Today we flew over to Spain to meet our doctor at the Fertility Clinic and so Mr M could leave a sperm sample which will be used to fertilise our eggs. We decided to just do it all in a day so we’ve got tomorrow to relax at home before work again on Monday, but I was a bit worried it might be 1) really hectic; 2) really stressful; and 3) really tiring. How wrong I could be! It was an early start for the flight but we stayed in a cheap hotel near the airport to get a few more zzz’s. Then the clinic arranged for a car to pick us up when we landed and take us for our appointment. It was so good to meet our doctor at last, and he couldn’t have been nicer. Admittedly, not many of the receptionists spoke English which was a bit disconcerting (but why should they!), but he was fluent, and put us at ease straight away. He explained everything again and answered all our questions (half of which I’m sure we’ve asked him already over email), and then Mr M went off to make his deposit. I always find it odd that men just have to go off into a room and do the deed, but I guess at least they get their privacy to do their bit, rather than us women with our legs in the air and everyone staring up and into our bits! To be honest, I’m so used to it now it doesn’t faze me at all. But anyway, it was soon all done, and we shook our doctor’s hand, knowing the next time we’d see him it would be on the morning of the transfer. Yikes! We spent the day in Malaga, eating lunch and wandering round, sitting on the beach (in October!), and before we knew it the car was picking us up again to take us back to the airport for the late-night flight. Tick! Another big step forward, and I’m really excited now to see our doctor again in a month’s time. I still have to pinch myself that this is really happening!
